Short History

Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo ubicado en Recoleta, sobre la Avenida del Libertador 1902 de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, fue creado en 1937 luego de la adquisición, por parte del Estado, del edificio que fuera el palacio Errázuriz de Matías Errázuriz Ortúzar (embajador chileno en Argentina) y su esposa Josefina de Alvear.

The National Museum of Decorative Art, located in Recoleta, on 1902 Libertador Avenue in the City of Buenos Aires, was created in 1937 after the acquisition by the State of the building that used to be the Errázuriz Palace of Matías Errázuriz Ortúzar (Chilean ambassador in Argentina) and his wife Josefina de Alvear.

Ambos habían atesorado una colección de objetos de arte y mobiliario que el Estado adquiere en el mismo acto y pasarían a conformar parte de la colección.

Both had treasured a collection of art objects and furniture that the State acquired in the same act and would become part of the collection.

El edificio, construido entre 1911 y 1917, es de estilo neoclásico francés.

The building, built between 1911 and 1917, is in the French neoclassical style.

Fue diseñado por el arquitecto René Sergent.

It was designed by architect René Sergent.

El museo depende del Ministerio de Cultura de la Nación.
The museum depends on the Ministry of Culture of the Nation.

Se puede visitar de martes a domingos de 12:30 a 19:00.
It can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday from 12:30 to 19:00.
